Duality is a necessity

Welcome to Duas Vidas - a special corner of the world where feeling like you’re in between is exactly where you’re supposed to be. Here, we believe a healthy dose of self reflection feeds your mind, heals your soul, and allows you to live life to the fullest.

Duas Vidas is a personal project turned brand by me - Felipe Haddad. 

In a way, I’ve always felt like I live at least two lives (note: Duas Vidas means two lives in Portuguese). No matter where I turn, I find myself living somewhere “in between.” Aside from moving between Brazil and the US a few times as a kid and always feeling like I was between the two cultures, I’ve also always been too artsy to be a jock, too athletic to be a nerd, and too nerdy to be an artist (at least in the stereotypical sense of these categorizations).

Because of this, I’ve always been fascinated by contrast wherever it shows up: chiaroscuro in art, seasons in Michigan (where I grew up), or striking the perfect balance between reflection and action.

Duas Vidas started as a way to get a stagnant artist to produce more art and while it very much still remains that, it’s an evolving project where I aim to share more than just art via clothing - but art for art’s sake and thoughts to inspire reflection. 

I’ll leave you with a quote upon which the name of this project was borne out of: “we have two lives; the second beings when we realize we only have one.” 

While I may feel like I live two lives at any given time because I have never quite felt like I “fit” into any single life, it’s true - we only have one, so we might as well make the most of it.
